Hey Kevin! First post by you.. and long time no see (symbolic) =)
You know what's also cool here? There are two women's universities near the station where my office is. Every morning when I get off the train, it's hard to find a guy even if I try. Really.
Heh, it's funny that you work in such a female dominated area.
And hey Kevin, long time no see for me too. How's eng going?
Hmmm...you know what else might be interesting? If we had a pageant in Canadian universities where each school was restricted to only being able to choose girls who were in their engineering or math programs. :P
You know what, that's a thoughtful response Alan. If we did that, I don't think Waterloo would be the odd one out. Here's why.
Waterloo's well-known for its engineering and math (i.e. nerdy) programs -- we associate Waterloo with them. We then tend to associate 'modest' girls with Waterloo, whereas the underlying and correct association is 'modest' girls with engineering and math.
I forgot the name of this common psychological phenomenon, but I'm pretty sure it was in PSYCH 101.

Do you think Waterloo would lose if we had one in Canada?
It's easy and tempting to say that, but I think what you really mean is, would Waterloo lose if we only chose girls from Engineering and Math?
And yes, I think that answer is fairly obvious... =P

Maybe I should take a picture or something...
Oh yeah, there's a female-only high school nearby as well. =)
You know what Jason, screw Epson.
GTO it up.
Anyways, wouldn't the recently crowned Miss Universe (some sort of Uni student I believe) win this Canada U pageant?
Yeah, it would be inconsistent otherwise... :P

trasnference?
Possibly.. somehow it doesn't ring a bell. Maybe I'm just senile.
If what you say is true, then your school is an exception. From what I've gathered (accounts from UW, UT, and several Japanese universities) that is.
